Hereditary Cancer Screening

Did you know approximately 10% to 15% of certain cancers diagnoses are due to genetic mutations passed down thru families? If one of your relatives had cancer, even those whom are distant, there is a chance that you inherited a gene mutation that increases your own personal risk. Hereditary Cancer Screening allows patients to be proactive and learn as early as possible what changes need to be made if they are more predisposed to acquiring cancer. If you have any of the following you should consider Hereditary Cancer Screening:

  • First-degree relatives with a history of cancer (mother, father, siblings and children)

  • Relatives on one side of the family who have had the same type of cancer

  • A family member with more than 1 type of cancer

Prescription Drug Screening

Knowing which medications work best for you shouldn’t be a guessing game. Prescription Drug Screening takes the guess work out of knowing which medications will work best for you and which could potentially be harmful due to your genetic make-up. Screening results detail the rate your body metabolizes medications—which influences a drug’s efficacy and side effects—and suggests alternative prescriptions when increased sensitivity or reduced response is likely. With this knowledge your physician or healthcare provider can tailor your prescriptions uniquely to you. Prescription Drug Screening is recommended if you:

  • Take one or more medications

  • Take pain medications

  • Take medications to treat neurological or psychiatric disorders
